'This makes for a bittersweet ending, which puts closure to River Song’s story.' ![]() These include her visit to the Singing Towers of Darillium and receiving a sonic screwdriver from the Doctor. Through this and consequent episodes (in which we meet River Song in a different part of her timeline), we get hints about her upcoming death. For those that cannot recall, the Series 4 episode “Forest of the Dead” featured the introduction and death of River Song. However, I feel that the episode redeemed itself towards the end, and this is why the episode will mainly be remembered. Whilst I feel that most of the episode could be seen as comedic and enjoyable, I also felt that it could be forgettable, as it lacks plot depth seen in other episodes. This part of the story is highly comedic, with River Song not knowing who the Doctor is, as she was unaware that he was able to surpass the 12 regeneration limit most Time Lords have, leading to make jokes, such as the Doctor for the first time providing the reaction of the TARDIS being bigger on the inside. The majority of the episode was what I found to be an enjoyable light-hearted affair, featuring River Song’s attempts to retrieve a previous diamond from the head of her husband King Hydroflax (Greg Davies), with additional comic relief from the character Nardole (Matt Lucas).
